How Kevin Manners Customises Denture Aesthetics for Stunning Smiles

Dentures can transform your smile and your overall appearance, but the wrong dentures can leave you feeling uncomfortable and self-conscious, affecting your confidence and quality of life.

The right denture clinician will work with your face shape, mouth shape, natural tooth appearance and more to capture your charm, so your dentures work beautifully with the rest of your anatomy.

But how do they do this?

Here at Kevin Manners, we consider a wide range of aspects to make dentures look beautiful and natural. Read on to find out more about how we craft our dentures .

Design choices to consider for the best false teeth

The perfect fit

Dentures need to fit perfectly in your mouth to avoid gaps and discomfort, and to allow for proper function… but the perfect fit is also crucial for a natural appearance. The last thing you want is for your dentures to stick out, making them move weirdly when you talk or smile.

Here at Kevin Manners, we tackle this issue by taking detailed impressions of every curve of your oral architecture. These impressions usually make the most perfect fitting dentures possible, but we don’t just stop there – on the initial denture fitting, we take measurements and make tweaks to make sure your dentures fit like a glove, giving the full custom denture experience.

The ‘just-right’ shade of white

Depending on whether you’re wanting partial or full dentures, the right shade of white depends on the colour of your natural teeth. If you’re going for partial dentures, the false teeth need to blend in seamlessly with your remaining natural teeth so they look completely unclockable.

If you’re going for complete dentures, you don’t have to be so subtle. You can choose a whiter shade of white if you want, but we’ll be there to give you the best advice, guiding your decision to help you choose a shade that looks natural.

The transparency of each tooth

You might not have given it much thought before, but natural teeth aren’t completely opaque; they have varying levels of transparency, especially near the edges. This transparency allows light to pass through, giving teeth their natural sparkle and depth.

So, when creating dentures, we incorporate layers of materials with different levels of translucency to mimic this effect and replicate the level of transparency of your real teeth. By carefully controlling the degree of transparency, we can achieve a more realistic appearance that closely resembles natural teeth.

Gum texture and colour

Let’s not forget about the gums! They’re just as important as the teeth when it comes to crafting natural-looking dentures. Natural gums have a unique texture and colour that varies from person to person – some have more prominent gum ridges, while others have a smoother appearance.

The colour of the gums can range from pink to brownish depending on factors like ethnicity and oral health, not to mention the slight transparent quality to the flesh. So, when customising dentures, we pay close attention to replicating the texture and colour of the patient’s gums to ensure a seamless blend with the surrounding tissues.

A perfectly imperfect shape

Even the most perfect natural teeth have subtle imperfections and irregularities that contribute to their unique charm. These imperfections include slight rotations, overlaps, gaps and variations in tooth shape and size.

When designing dentures, we mimic these imperfections to avoid the overly uniform appearance that can make dentures look artificial. By carefully crafting each tooth and ensuring proper alignment, we create a smile that looks like it belongs to the patient.

How Kevin Manners works with you for cosmetic denture customisation

At Kevin Manners, we work closely with you to create dentures that fit your needs perfectly. We start by talking to you about what you want and whether you need partial, complete, or denture implants. If you have old photos of your teeth, that’s great – they help us understand what you used to look like and what you want now.

Next, we take careful moulds of your mouth to make sure your dentures fit just right. We pay attention to every detail so they feel comfortable and look natural. We also help you choose the right colour for your teeth and gums, so your new smile matches your face.

Our aim is simple: to give you dentures that make you feel confident and comfortable, just like your natural teeth did. With our care and expertise, you’ll leave with dentures that look and feel just right for you. Contact us and book a consultation to speak to our experts.
