Thinking about Dentures? Get the Facts Here!

I think I need dentures. Where do I start?

At Kevin Manners Denture Clinic, we understand how important it is to have a healthy and confident smile. Our experienced dental technicians provide high-quality dentures made by specialists in our dental laboratory that will help you feel comfortable and satisfied with your results.

To start the process of getting dentures, the first step is to schedule an appointment with one of our knowledgeable clinicians. During this initial consultation, we will assess your unique needs and determine which type of denture would best suit your situation..

What types of dentures are there?

At Kevin Manners Denture Clinic, we offer both traditional removable dentures as well as more advanced implant-supported dentures.

Our traditional dentures are made from high-quality material and designed to fit snugly over the gums and remaining number of teeth, providing a natural look and feel.

We also offer implant-supported dentures for patients who may be looking for a more secure solution. These replacements are secured in place using small titanium implants that are placed directly into the jawbone, creating a stable foundation for your new teeth.

Whether you need full dentures or partial dentures, our experienced team is here to help you achieve a healthy and beautiful smile that you can feel confident about.

What is the average cost of dentures?

The cost of dentures will depend on a number of factors, including the type of denture you need and the materials used to create it. At Kevin Manners Denture Clinic, we offer affordable rates that are tailored to your unique needs and budget.

To get an estimate for your specific situation, we recommend scheduling a consultation with our experienced clinical dental technician. They can assess your oral health and medical history and provide you with an accurate quote.

Can I sleep in my dentures?

Though you can wear your dentures at night, a clinical denture technician would advise that it is better to take them out. This gives your gums and bones a chance to rest from the pressure of the denture during waking hours.

If you need or want to keep your dentures in for social reasons, make sure to clean both your mouth and prostheses thoroughly. Dentures should also be cleaned at night before storing them submerged in water overnight.

Can I eat normally with dentures?

While it will take some time to adjust to your new dentures, you can eat most foods once you have them in place. However, be sure to cut food into bite-sized pieces that are easy to chew and swallow.

You may also find it helpful to avoid sticky or hard foods to prevent broken dentures and avoid needing replacement dentures, as these can damage or dislodge your new teeth.

The Denture Process

How much pain is involved with getting dentures?

The regular dental process of getting dentures typically does not involve any pain. In some cases, you may experience slight discomfort for a few days after having your dentures fitted. This can be easily managed with over-the-counter pain relievers or by talking to your clinician about other options that may be right for you.

If you have any concerns or questions about the process, our team at Kevin Manners Denture Clinic is here to help you enjoy a comfortable and successful denture experience.

How do you know when it’s time to reline dentures?

There are several signs that may indicate it is time to reline your dentures. These can include problems with speaking or chewing, difficulty biting down on hard foods, irritation or sores in the mouth, and loose-fitting dentures.

For more information about this process, or to schedule an appointment with Kevin Manners Denture Clinic for a consultation, contact us today. We look forward to helping you achieve a beautiful and healthy smile!

After a reline, what should I do about excess saliva?

If you experience excess saliva after a reline, there are a few things you can do to manage it. Some effective strategies include chewing sugar-free gum, drinking lots of water, and using mouthwash or breath mints as needed. Additionally, speaking with your clinician about other options that may be available is always a good idea.

I have implants under my bottom denture, but my denture is still loose. Why?

It is possible that the implants under your denture may not be providing sufficient support for it to stay in place. At Kevin Manners Denture Clinic, we can work with you to determine the cause of your denture’s instability and help you find a solution that will provide the support and comfort you need. Whether you need to have additional implants placed or explore alternative denture options.

As a new denture wearer, the bottom denture seems loose. What should I do?

If you are a new denture wearer, it is normal to experience some degree of looseness in your bottom denture. This is often caused by the natural shrinkage of the gums and jaw that occurs as the mouth adjusts to wearing dentures.

To help minimise this effect, it is important to take good care of your dentures and follow your clinician’s recommended care and maintenance routine.

Additionally, it may be helpful to speak with your dental technicians about other denture options that can provide a more secure fit and help you enjoy the benefits of your dentures for years to come.

Is it possible to perfectly colour-match my partial denture to my remaining natural teeth?

While it is certainly possible to match the colour of your partial denture to your remaining natural teeth, this can be a challenging process. Factors such as the age and condition of your remaining teeth i.e. tooth decay, their texture and shape, as well as the materials used for your dentures can all affect how closely they are able to match.

That said, the experienced clinicians at Kevin Manners Denture Clinic are skilled in colour matching techniques and can work with you to find the best possible match for your specific needs.

What are the benefits of partial dentures?

Similar to complete dentures, there are many benefits of a partial set of dentures, including restoring the function and appearance of missing teeth and improving your overall quality of life. In addition to these benefits, partial dentures are a more affordable alternative to dental implants or other permanent restoration options.
